About MetabolicMale

I’m Ryan Mercer. I’m on GLP‑1, and I train four days a week. This is the resource I couldn’t find when I started.

Why I Built This

When my doctor prescribed a GLP‑1, I did what most men who lift do: I went looking for how to do it without losing the muscle I’d spent years building. I found almost nothing useful.

The content was all written for one kind of person — sedentary, focused on a single number on the scale, treating muscle as acceptable collateral. Nobody was writing for the guy who sees GLP‑1 as a tool to get lean while staying strong.

So before I took my first dose, I spent over two months reading the research. Mechanisms. Muscle retention in a deficit. Protein requirements. How to train when your appetite drops off a cliff. Side-effect management. I built myself a protocol from primary sources because no one had built one for me.

MetabolicMale is that protocol — documented and refined in real time. It’s the resource I wish had existed the day I started.

What I Researched

  • How GLP‑1 medications actually work, and the mechanism behind the weight loss
  • Why muscle loss happens in a caloric deficit — and what reverses it
  • Protein requirements that protect lean mass while the drug suppresses appetite
  • Resistance-training protocols built for a reduced-calorie, suppressed-appetite state
  • Body recomposition: losing fat and building muscle at the same time
  • Nutrition planning and macro targets specific to GLP‑1 use
  • Managing the side effects that derail most people in the first month

What This Site Is — and Isn’t

This is a research synthesis and a personal protocol. Everything here is built on published research and tested through my own ongoing experience on GLP‑1.

It is not medical advice. It is not a substitute for your prescribing physician. It’s one man’s evidence-based approach, written for men who train and refuse to treat GLP‑1 as just a weight-loss shortcut.

Use it to get informed, ask better questions, and build a smarter protocol. Then talk to your doctor.

Nothing on MetabolicMale constitutes medical advice. Always consult your prescribing physician before making changes to your medication, nutrition, or training.
